Karuna Reiki^® is a very powerful, high vibrational energy that heals at a very deep level of our being. Karuna is a Sanskrit word that means compassionate action, or any action taken to relieve the suffering of others. Karuna is the quality that would motivate enlightened beings working to end suffering on Earth. Many Karuna Reiki^® practitioners report angels and other beings of light coming to help with the healings. Karuna Reiki^® will help the practitioner to be open to working with these beings of light.

Karuna Reiki^® works at a deep cellular level, as well as spiritual and emotional level to help us release and transform old trauma from childhood and even past lives. Chanting and toning are taught in the Karuna Reiki^® classes and are beautiful and powerful healing tools.

In the Practitioner I class, four symbols are learned which help to break up negative patterns, release karma, heal the heart, and balance the chakras. In the Practitioner II class, four additional higher vibrational symbols are taught which strengthen the connection to the higher self and heal at a deeper level. The prerequisite for Practitioner I is the Advanced Reiki Training (ART) or its equivalent called 3A training in some Reiki schools. Practitioner I is required to take Practitioner II and both Practitioner II and experience as a Reiki Master is required to take the Karuna Reiki^® Master class.

Karuna Reiki^® was developed by William Rand, founder of The International Center for Reiki Training in Southfield Michigan. Several women, intuitive Reiki practitioners, were gifted by spirit with additional symbols to use in their healing work. William felt that there was a great potential in these symbols that was not being utilized. After much prayer and meditation on these symbols he developed the system of Karuna Reiki^® which he considers an evolution of the Usui Reiki.

William Lee Rand, a Reiki Master Teacher, is author of Reiki, The Healing Touch and Reiki for a New Millennium. William has over 25 years experience in metaphysics and healing work. He was initiated into Reiki on the Big Island of Hawaii in 1981. He has authored over 40 articles on Reiki and Karuna Reiki^® and is editor of the Reiki News. William is the author of all the class manuals used at Rainbow gardens for Reiki and Karuna Reiki^® training, as they are the finest I have ever seen.
